Terms of use
What Hullteam does, what you undertake to do, and what “verified” means.
Version of 14 September 2026.
This page is a translation provided to help you read it. Only the French version is legally binding. Read the French version
1. The service
Hullteam is an online boat maintenance log, published by Hullteam (see the legal notice). It lets you record the jobs carried out on a boat, attach evidence to them (invoices, receipts, photos, reports), keep documents, manage a crew and shared access, ask a professional to confirm a job, and produce a sale file intended for a buyer. The log is free; some services are paid and governed by the terms of sale.
By creating an account, you accept these terms. If you disagree with any of them, do not use the service.
2. Your account
- You must be 18 years of age and provide a valid email address. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for everything done from your account.
- An account is personal. You may give other people access to a boat (co-owner, crew member, reader): they create their own account.
- You may delete your account at any time from the My account page. The consequences are described in the privacy policy.
3. What you declare
You warrant that the information entered in the log is accurate to the best of your knowledge, that the documents uploaded are authentic and concern you, and that you are entitled to declare the boat (owner, co-owner, or person mandated by the owner). It is forbidden:
- to create a record for a boat that is not yours without a mandate from its owner;
- to enter a job that did not take place, to alter an invoice or a photo, or to attribute work to a professional who did not do it;
- to upload a title of ownership that is not yours;
- to use the service to deceive a buyer, an insurer or a public authority.
A false declaration engages your sole liability, including criminal liability (article 441-1 of the French Penal Code on forgery). We may suspend an account or withdraw a sale file in case of serious doubt, after informing you.
4. Levels of proof — what Hullteam does and does not guarantee
Each job in the log carries a level calculated automatically, never chosen by you:
- Declared: entered by you, without any supporting document.
- Supporting document attached: at least one document is attached to it (invoice, receipt, photo, report). The document is read by artificial intelligence to suggest its date, issuer and content; you validate.
- Entered by the professional: the business that carried out the work entered the job itself from its own account, or the job comes from a project handled through Hullteam.
- Confirmed by the professional: the professional personally confirmed, through a link sent to their email address or number, that they carried out the job.
As long as a job is not sealed, its level follows reality: it goes up if a document is attached or a confirmation is obtained, and it goes down if what justified it disappears. On sealing, it is frozen and becomes part of the line’s fingerprint: it no longer changes.
Seven days after it is entered, a job is sealed: it can no longer be modified or deleted, only corrected by a new line. Its digital fingerprint is chained to the previous one, then, every night, all the sealed fingerprints are timestamped by an independent third party (RFC 3161 timestamping service). Anyone can check a fingerprint on the Verify a fingerprint page.
What this guarantees: that the job was recorded on the date shown by the timestamp, that it has not been rewritten since, which document was attached to it and, where applicable, that the named professional confirmed it.
What this does not guarantee: that the work was done properly, that the boat is in good condition, that the uploaded document is authentic (we check consistency, not the original), or that the person who answered the confirmation link is indeed the professional (we send the link to the address or number you give us). Hullteam is neither a marine surveyor, nor a technical inspector, nor a guarantor of compliance. A buyer remains bound to carry out their own checks, including a survey if they see fit.
5. The “Verified history” badge
A sale file is marked “Hullteam verified history” when four conditions are met at the time it is generated: ownership of the boat has been checked (registration document read and compared with the boat record, or manual check by us), the log contains at least one job, every sealed job is timestamped by the third party, and the chain of fingerprints is intact. Otherwise it is marked “Documented history”. The badge describes the traceability of the log, not the condition of the boat. We hide nothing: lines showing a detected inconsistency (engine hours going down, business struck off the register, professional disputing the job, date before the purchase) are flagged as such in the file.
6. Content and artificial intelligence
Your documents are analysed by an artificial intelligence model to suggest a record to you (date, issuer, amount, work lines) and to answer your questions about your boat. These suggestions may be wrong: you review them before validating them, and it is your validation that is authoritative. Free analyses are capped (see the terms of sale); we may temporarily limit use in the event of manifest abuse.
7. Sharing, transfer and sale file
- A sharing link or a sale file makes the information you chose to include visible to anyone who has the link. Do not share a link you do not want to see circulating. You may revoke a share or a file at any time.
- The title of ownership is never attached to a file or a share.
- Transferring a boat to its buyer gives them the complete, sealed log and removes your access to it. It is final once accepted by the buyer.
8. Reporting content, challenging a decision
Every listing, professional profile, brokerage page, model page, sale file and quote carries a “Report” link. Anyone, registered or not, may use it to report content they believe to be illegal, misleading or contrary to these terms, explaining why and declaring that they are acting in good faith. Each report is reviewed by a member of the Hullteam team, without automated decision-making.
Depending on the case, we may hide the content, correct it, warn its author, pass the report on to the authorities, or change nothing. The person who reported it receives our decision; the author of the content receives it as soon as we act on their content. In both cases, the decision is reasoned in writing and may be challenged free of charge for six months, through the link attached to the email: the challenge is reviewed again and receives a reasoned reply. You may also refer the matter to a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body, or to the courts (European Regulation 2022/2065 on digital services). Manifestly unfounded and repeated reports may be ignored.
9. Availability and liability
We do our best to keep the service available and your data backed up, without guaranteeing that there will be no interruptions. We recommend that you keep your originals (invoices, title of ownership): Hullteam is a log, not a notarial safe. Our liability is limited to direct and proven damage and, for paid services, to the amount you paid us over the previous twelve months. Nothing here limits any liability that cannot legally be limited.
10. Changes and termination
We may develop the service and these terms; substantive changes are announced to you by email at least fifteen days in advance. You may close your account at any time. We may close an account in the event of a serious breach of these terms, after warning you and giving you fifteen days to retrieve your data, except in cases of manifest fraud.
In the event of fraud, repeated breaches or unlawful content, we may suspend an account: login is cut off, its listings and professional profiles are hidden, and the email address can no longer be used to register again. You then receive by email the reason for the suspension and a link to lodge an appeal, free of charge, for six months; it is reviewed by a person and receives a reasoned reply. If the suspension is lifted, everything that had been hidden becomes visible again.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by French law. For a dispute with a consumer, see the mediation clause in the terms of sale. Failing an amicable settlement, the French courts have jurisdiction.
