Check with the authorities before you leave (last checked on 28 October 2026).

The steps

  1. Call the port authority on VHF 16
  2. Anchor in Hann Bay (Dakar)
  3. Customs (fee) then immigration (copy of boat papers)

Papers to have on board

  • Boat papers (registration certificate)

Good to know

  • Noonsite information is old (Dakar 2015, Ziguinchor 2018): check locally.
  • In Dakar, customs and immigration are in two distant offices (take a taxi); no exit document is issued.
