Entering by boat: Israel
What to do to enter Israel by sea: the procedures, the papers to present and the ports where you can clear in.
Check with the authorities before you leave (last checked on 28 October 2026).
The steps
- Send the marina (or an agent) the intended port, ETA, boat details, last ports and crew.
- At 25-50 NM: call the Navy on VHF 16 and follow instructions.
- Go straight to the clearance berth; nobody goes ashore.
- Border control, Customs and security on board (search possible).
Papers to have on board
- Passports for the whole crew
- Visas, if your nationality requires them
- Crew list
- Boat papers (registration certificate)
- Insurance certificate
- Outward clearance from the previous country
Good to know
- Call the Israeli Navy on VHF 16 (or 2182 kHz) 25 to 50 NM offshore; during conflict, Navy permission is required at 25 NM and electronic forms must be filled in before arrival.
- Without visas or prior permission, stay well outside 12 NM (20 advised); a patrol boat may come to escort you.
- Contact the arrival marina in advance: a berth booking is not permission to enter territorial waters.
- Clearance outside working hours (Sunday-Thursday 09:00-16:00): heavy overtime charges.
- Tel Aviv is no longer a port of entry: use Herzliya, 6 NM north. Security situation changes fast: check official notices right before leaving.
