Entering by boat: Solomon Islands
What to do to enter Solomon Islands by sea: the procedures, the papers to present and the ports where you can clear in.
Check with the authorities before you leave (last checked on 28 October 2026).
Before you arrive
- Online procedure: Customs Inward/Outward Report for yachts and small craft (formulaire C.48), remis à l'agent des douanes à l'arrivée — pacliirms.austlii.edu.au/sb/legis/sub_leg/caeaiorsc2011590.pdf
The steps
- Call Port Control (Honiara, VHF 09/16) on arrival, Q flag up.
- Customs and quarantine (form C.48), then pay quarantine at the Ministry of Agriculture.
- Immigration with all passports.
- Return to the first office with the receipts to collect the arrival papers.
Papers to have on board
- Passports for the whole crew
- Crew list
- Boat papers (registration certificate)
- Outward clearance from the previous country
- General declaration
- Ship’s stores declaration
- Biosecurity declaration
Good to know
- Request clearance at an official port of entry before going ashore on any island: heavy fine otherwise.
- Ports of entry listed by the tourism office: Honiara, Korovou (Shortlands), Gizo, Ringgi, Yandina, Tulagi and Graciosa Bay (Lata). In practice Honiara and Noro are the only places with all officials on the same day.
- At smaller ports, check beforehand that officials are present (Gizo, Lata: absent officers or officers flying in from Honiara reported).
- Clearance takes the whole day: start early; each office is paid separately, keep the receipts.
