Entering by boat: Gibraltar

What to do to enter Gibraltar by sea: the procedures, the papers to present and the ports where you can clear in.

Check with the authorities before you leave (last checked on 28 October 2026).

Before you arrive

  • Online procedure: Pré-déclaration d'arrivée en ligne à la douane (demandée aux bateaux venant d'Espagne)

The steps

  1. Prepare the crew list (name, nationality, passport number).
  2. Come to the marinas' reception berth.
  3. Clear Customs with the marina.

Papers to have on board

  • Passports for the whole crew
  • Crew list
  • Boat papers (registration certificate)

Good to know

  • One port only: go straight to a marina (Ocean Village, Queensway Quay, Marina Bay); berth at the reception berth on the starboard side of the marina approach.
  • EU–UK Gibraltar treaty provisionally applied since 15 July 2026: Schengen-type checks at the airport and, where applicable, the port; customs union for goods. Check the yacht procedure before arriving.
