Entering by boat: Comoros

What to do to enter Comoros by sea: the procedures, the papers to present and the ports where you can clear in.

Check with the authorities before you leave (last checked on 28 October 2026).

The steps

  1. Notify an agent of your arrival time.
  2. Call the port brigade on VHF 16 on approach, in daylight.
  3. Tie up at the quay in front of the port captain's office; officials board with the agent.
  4. Pay the port captain, Immigration (visa) and gendarmerie.

Papers to have on board

  • Passports for the whole crew
  • Visas, if your nationality requires them
  • Crew list
  • Boat papers (registration certificate)
  • Outward clearance from the previous country

Good to know

  • No published official fees for yachts: fees are negotiated, ask for a receipt.
  • Notify an agent in advance; French is the main working language.
  • Offices closed on Sundays; clearance can take several days.
  • Old information (2015-2017): confirm before sailing.
