Entering by boat: Cyprus
What to do to enter Cyprus by sea: the procedures, the papers to present and the ports where you can clear in.
Check with the authorities before you leave (last checked on 28 October 2026).
The steps
- Tell the arrival marina (or an agent) your ETA and crew.
- Fly the Q flag and enter an approved marina or port.
- Immigration: passports and crew list.
- Customs: VAT status of the boat; form C.104 for a non-EU boat.
Papers to have on board
- Passports for the whole crew
- Visas, if your nationality requires them
- Crew list
- Boat papers (registration certificate)
- Insurance certificate
- Outward clearance from the previous country
Good to know
- Enter only through a port of the Republic of Cyprus (government-controlled area): northern ports (Kyrenia/Girne, Famagusta) are not points of entry recognised by the Republic.
- Cyprus does not yet apply Schengen or the EES: standard passport control.
- Reports: since 1 January 2025 Türkiye refuses boats arriving directly from the Republic of Cyprus.
- All boats must report to Customs; EU boats: carry proof of VAT paid.
